How to visit (or even across) the Bering Strait?

Hello, I've always wanted to visit (or even cross, but as far as I know it is not possible legally) the Bering Strait linking Alaska with Russia, and my idea was to visit this summer or next (2011's). I'm not OK U.S. or Russia, so I guess this makes the target more difficult. (I'm from Europe) I leave here with the hope that someone could give me any information (whether an organization tourist or not) about how to get to the line (preferably of Alaska). I guess that to get to Alaska Fairbanks is easier because it has an airport, but getting to the line is quite difficult. So, does anyone have any useful information or know of a good site with information? Thank you very much.

You need a visa to the U.S. and Russia. You can book a flight to Nome, Alaska (On the right in the Bering Strait) and rent a boat from there to cross the strait Bering
