1964 earthquake in Alaska, they were …?

Were they ready for this event? What happened before the earthquakes (like a day before it happened.)

No. 1964 in Anchorage, Alaska, earthquake and resulting tsunami struck without warning on Good Friday, March 27. Coastal Alaska is in an area failure in the Pacific plate meets the North American plate. The earthquake occurred on a thrust fault on the Pacific plate slides under the American plate North. It was determined that the continental plate sliding took place 16 miles underground. The epicenter was near Prince William Sound, which lies between Valdez and Anchorage. The clay ground turned to liquid and cause it to become unstable. This is a process called liquefaction. The fissures opened as a more solid basis fell rose and bowed. Some residents claimed the ground waves were over 3 meters tall.
